If I could pick one word to describe Indonesia’s beauty industry nowadays, I’d like to say that it is… overwhelming. Looking back at these past few years, it’s obvious that the explosion of discussion forums and online beauty communities sharing new trends and reviewing this-and-that has resulted in an exponential growth of demand. Since then, countless independent beauty brands popped up in the market with their competitive quality and the ability to own the online space by catching attentions with their concepts. The local beauty market has grown at an amazing pace and I find it really hard to keep up, so I decided to stick around the “gems” I found in the early days, and one of the few local brands that managed to make the cut and stay in my vanity is Rollover Reaction.
I fell in love with them since the very first time they launched their Sueded Lip and Cheek Cream in early 2016, I was totally sold at their concept. They named the shades after the girls in The Beatles’ songs, and the nude colors are just irresistible. I was excited when I bought them for the first time, and even more excited when I finally got them in my hands. The packaging, the texture, the yumm scent and the versatility are enough to make me fell in love. Lip cream after lip cream, they finally launched something that’s not a lip cream in November last year– it was a browcara, and I was still as excited to snatch ’em too because I literally can’t go anywhere without getting my brows done. I waited until the launch date and when the morning came, I went straight to their website and bought two shades of the browcara. Yes, there are only two shades: Espresso and Cappuccino. It’s funny how they named the browcara after coffee while the rest of their products are named after girl icons, but after all, it’s the right thing to do because eyebrows are supposed to be like coffee: dark and strong.
What is it?
Their website says that it’s a brow gel, geared with a spoolie applicator that gives you a subtle, natural finish. It fills, tame, and add definition to your brows and will leave a hair-like finish that can be built to give your brows an extra boost. Sounds promising for a brow maniac like me.
Aqua, Isodecane, Stearic Acid, Cera Alba, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Isopropyl Titanium Triisostearate, Isotecyl Stearoyl Stearate, PVP, Propylene Glycol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Methylpropanediol, Panthenol, Imidazolidinyl urea, Tocopherol (may contain Cl 77499, Cl 77491, Cl77492)
Texture and First Impression:
Espresso is a dark brownish grey and Cappuccino is a medium brown, I snatched both of them because I assumed they would look similar (and I had a choosing issue hahaha). Pigmentation is sheer and buildable, I can easily make a natural my-brows-but-better look with just one coat. Rollover Reaction’s brow gel formula tends to be mousse-y compared to other products, let’s say, Maybelline brow gel. The texture of this browcara is creamier and feels very light when applied, it reminds me of their lip creams, which is very nice. Once it dries, it doesn’t turn my brow hair stiff or ‘crispy’ (if you know what I mean…) instead, it makes my brows looking au naturel.
Here’s some application tips:
Remove the excess product from the spoolie to the edge of the tube to prevent clumps. Draw a line by swiping the spoolie along the bottom part of brow to create a neat “frame”, then fill it by brushing your brows towards the direction of hair growth.
I’m actually more of a brow-pencil-kind-of-girl, and at first I thought it would be a mess to do my brows with a browcara instead of my regular brow pencil, but this browcara turns out to be easy peasy lemon squeezy to use, shoutout to the tiny sized spoolie! I love how the browcara makes my eyebrows look naturally thicker and defined, and the shades match Indonesian natural hair color really well.
Most definitely, YES. I can’t cope up with most local brow products, be it a pencil or a pomade / gel, I’ve tried some and they tend to be too pigmented, too un-natural and even the most raved local brow pencil (a.k.a pensil alis sejuta umat you-know-it) has too much orange undertone so I don’t bother myself keeping up with them. I’m really glad Rollover Reaction came up with this browcara eyebrow perfector, it really lives up to its name, it perfects and enhances my natural brows instead of changing how my brows look, it gives me that “my-brows-but-better” effect. At Rp 109.000 each, it’s so affordable and I will surely repurchase one of these two shades, maybe Espresso — or Cappuccino, I told you I have a choosing issue.
That’s all my thoughts and review on Rollover Reaction’s Browcara Eyebrow Perfector, I really hope it helps! If you enjoyed reading this, please give this post a Like so I know 🙂
