[Samples Rambles] SK-II, Omorovicza, Tarte, Pixi

I have been hauling skincare and make up products like crazy lately, and from all these purchases I’ve also received many samples, but to be honest… I used to hate samples. They’re tiny and noisy and don’t look good to be sitting on top of my vanity, I usually shove these samples in my drawer or give them to my friends. But since I’ve started writing reviews on this blog, I might as well begin to review sample-sized beauty products too, right? Few weeks ago I chose several samples from my stash to begin with, and they’re all used up now, so here’s my quick review! 🙂

SK-II Facial Treatment Gentle Cleanser

SK-II counters are so generous with samples. I once purchased two products and the beauty consultant gave me four sample tubes of Facial Treatment Gentle Cleanser. I underestimated this cleanser at first, but turned out I really like it and I’ve finished three out of four tubes. This cleanser smells like a luxurious rose bouquet and feels very gentle on my skin, it’s SLS-free and doesn’t leave my skin feeling “squeaky”. Instead, it makes my skin more hydrated and slightly brighter (it contains a fair amount of niacinamide, so this might be the reason why.)

I love this cleanser, but I think it’s not too necessary for me to purchase the actual product since the price is rather expensive for a cleanser. I’m gonna stick with drugstore ones while asking for more samples of this cleanser, lol.

Omorovicza Gold Flash Firming Serum

This oil-free anti-aging serum is infused with colloidal gold and claimed to promote a radiant and youthful-looking skin by firming and reducing age spots. I love the texture of this serum and I only needed a tiny bit of it to cover my entire face. One sample packet contains 2 mL serum and it lasted for about 10 days on me. A little goes a long way. What I love more about this serum, is the fact that it turned my skin into a majestic glass-looking skin the next morning. My skin felt really smooth and clear and glossy and bouncy. Hands down the best serum I’ve ever tried in my life!

However, I think I’m not going to purchase the full size in near future, since it costs US$225 or around Rp 3.000.000 for 30 mL. Ugh, so expensive it hurts! Maybe one day I’ll try to commit a purchase, but not today, though.

Tarte Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation Blister Card

I was curious about Shape Tape Foundation ever since the first time Tarte launched it earlier this year. I knew this entire foundation line is very controversial because of their shitty shade range, but I’ve also heard many good reviews about it. I decided to try the sample card so I can find the best shade for me before I purchase the full size one. This blister card contains five shades, and medium sand is the perfect match for my skin.

I really love the natural finish, it’s not too dewy, unlike some other hydrating foundation that I’ve tried. This foundation has medium-to-full coverage and it also stays for about 9 hours on me, perfect staying power to be used on workdays. I love this foundation and I’m definitely going to purchase the full size bottle.

Pixi Glow Tonic To-Go Exfoliating Toner Pads

It’s basically Glow Tonic (I already wrote a review about it here) in the form of pre-soaked cotton pads. Just like the name, these pads are good for traveling, since the regular Glow Tonic’s bottle is pretty bulky and has 100% chance of leaking. The ingredients are pretty much the same except the composition between glycolic acid and aloe vera extract. I couldn’t notice a difference but if there was any, it’s probably because the pads have a textured side which promotes a more effective exfoliation compared to regular cotton rounds.

I’d recommend these pads if you’re both an avid traveler and Glow Tonic lover, but if you don’t travel much, the regular version should be enough. I love Glow Tonic but I also love Nip+Fab’s pads, so yeah, I’ll skip this one.

That’s my quick review! Samples are actually helpful, especially if you have a sensitive / reactive skin, you better ask for samples before cashing out your money on full size products. I still have a bunch of samples from other brands and I’ll try to write more samples rambles in the future. If you enjoyed reading this post, please give it a like or comment below so I know 🙂
